The Overlocker machine is a piece of precision engineering with tolerances and clearances between needles and loopers less than the thickness of one of your hairs.

Needles are doing up to 1300 stitches per minute.

Why some operators expect the needles to last / stay sharp forever is a mystery to me 🙂
They don’t.
Change them REGULARLY
Quality of stitching is reduced by dull needles, and damage your fabric, but even more of an issue, its more likely to deflect as it pierces the fabric. If it strikes the looper as a result, you have a (costly) problem Houston !
Buy GOOD quality needles that are SPECIFIED for your machine. Your Serger will love you for it 🙂
